About Me:
I have been growing organic vegetables in my back yard for over twenty years and I've started a business that installs raised bed gardens and coaches others to be successful gardeners. I recently finished Master Gardener training and I had a lot of fun. I look forward to meeting others interested in Veggies!

Favorite Music:
All sorts.
What would you like to see Slow Food Charlotte do?
I'd love to share my knowledge of home gardening so everyone in Charlotte can learn how to grow veggies in their own back yards. My approach eliminates about 90% of the work spent digging and building and maintaining a garden and is great for beginner gardeners and busy people of all kinds. I do public speaking on organic gardening and I'd love to hear about groups looking for speakers in the Charlotte area.

Dear Don,...Remember me...I used to work with you on your insurance at The Record Exchange. I know you are the expert now at organic gardening. Someday I hope to have some of your vegetable beds in my yard.

Hi Don,
I am trying to solicit some donations for the Slow Food USA national online auction, and thought you might be interested in donating something. Our convivia would receive 80% of proceeds of items donated to benefit us. Email me or leave me a comment if you are interested or would like to find out more!
Thanks!

The segment on organic gardening vs. gardening with chemicals should come out in January. I'll let you know the date.

Yes, here I am! I need to be better about checking the website! It's nice to have familiar faces to talk to about subjects near and dear to all of us!

Don----you sounded fine! And the Inconvenient Truth vs Inconvenient Book discussion was no big deal. I bet it seemed longer to you than it did to anyone listening. We first tuned in when you were giving the list of recommended books, and my husband said, "is that guy reading off the names of books on your shelf, Amy?"

I would like to talk shop about raised beds and materials. I've always used permanent beds, but for various reasons, decided NOT to raise them. I'm on the Garden committee for the edible schoolyard dealie we've got going here. All of my garden experience is tailored for conditions in West Texas, and I'm wondering what kind of surprises the Carolinas will spring on me.

I'll be out West until sometime in early January. (Actually we left soon after I posted last, or I would have replied sooner). Maybe we can talk then?

Hi Don! Welcome. I picked up one of your "Free Vegetables for Life" advertisement cards outside a store the day I moved to the area from Texas (that was in September). It caught my attention because my husband and I have discussed what a good idea for a small business that would be-----installing permanant bed organic gardens for folks. How's it going?
